Answers to Inskime’s Questions
Why did you start blogging?
I began blogging for a two fold reason. First, my love for anime had grown at a rate that I needed to express it somehow. I watched anime all the time, talked about it with whoever would listen, and thought about it constantly- so the next step for me was to write about it. Second, Anime helped me overcome a very dark part of my life and I know how strong our feelings for our favorite anime runs deep. I wanted to tap into that, share my story to help others who are dealing with hardships, and along the way find other inspiring stories. My penultimate goal is to start some kind of fundraiser or charity that involves anime to help with mental illness, addiction, and depression.
What is your favorite anime genre and favorite anime in that genre?
I guess my favorite genre would be action/adventure and definitely Shounen. I do watch sci-fi and some romance, but my main go to’s are the epic adventures and fighting anime, and the crown jewel for me is One Piece.
Do you find Blog Posts in general hard to write?
I do find them challenging most of the time, but I enjoy the challenge. I write a good bit in my spare time- poems, songs, parts of stories, Dungeon and Dragon adventures, etc. Blog Posts to me are almost like writing exercises- it’s rather fun to think of a topic, research it, and begin to put together a decent post. I feel like with a Blog Post I can continue to alter it and achieve the best possible result, while other writing seems to be more open ended.
What horror movie stereotype would you be and why?
If it’s a slasher I think I would be the more collected guy that is trying to figure a way out- i’m usually calm under pressure. If it’s demons/ghosts/aliens I am out of there I am not messing with that stuff.
What is your guilty pleasure anime?
I don’t like to say “guilty pleasure” usually, I think we should all like exactly what we like and shouldn’t feel bad about it. Probably Fruits Basket though.
What was your hardest thing to do during your time blogging?
I would say the hardest thing for me to do since I have been blogging would be when I had to take some time off (About 5 weeks or so) due to some personal health problems and a bout of depression. It was hard to leave my blog, writing usually is what helps me feel better, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to give it my all until I myself had recovered. Actually, even harder than taking the time off was coming back at the end of it. I wrote my return article over and over again and it just didn’t feel right, but it also didn’t feel right to just start up again as if nothing had happened. I think I found a good middle ground though and continued on.
What’s your personality type?
I’m not actually sure, I’ll go try and figure it out real quick.. I guess there are tests for it online? Okay, I just took one.. it looks like I got ENFJ? I read over it and it seems pretty much like me, I’ve never done these before so i’m not sure if this is right or not haha.
What’s your story on how you got into anime?
I guess when I truly first got into it was when I was maybe 10 or 11 years old. My mom had a boyfriend that was obsessed with Dragon Ball Z and he got us into it really hard and we were set on that for a long time. As I got a little older, I branched out and watched some others. Gundam, FLCL, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop- stuff they played on Toonami/Adult Swim. Then I didn’t really focus much on anime for a long time, I watched some that caught my eye but I wasn’t into anime as a whole until a few years back when I started watching again and found One Piece.
What is your most commonly reoccurring emotion whilst blogging be it making blogs, reading other’s blogs, collaborating with other bloggers, projects, etc?
I would say a feeling of accomplishment when I write. I feel as if each article is a challenge to say what I want to say and put it together in a nice way so I strive to do my best. While reading others and collaborating I also feel a great sense of camaraderie. The anime blogging community has as a whole been very nice and accepting of me as I’ve come into the fold. I try to return that to them by reading others blogs and spreading the word!
If you could recommend the entire world one anime to watch, (Side Note: They’re not allowed to not watch it) which one would it be?
Ugh I so want to say One Piece, it is such an absolutely amazing show and once it hooks you it’s on, but I don’t want to put anyone through 900 episodes if they HAVE to watch it. I’ll go with Cowboy Bebop I guess. Too me that is a PERFECT anime, everyone should check it out even those who don’t normally watch anime.
How done are you with Isekai at this point?
Man, you know it’s such a weird fad, I don’t know if plot wise they are just easier to throw some crazy stuff down or what. I mean the genre has a select few that I enjoy, but I am just seeing one after another pushed out so I’m pretty over them.
